Review of 2009 China Sourcing Fair

Global Sources staged a well-attended China Sourcing Fair: Security Products during the show's first bi-annual staging at AsiaWorld-Expo on October 12 to 15, 2009. The inaugural Fair welcomed a total of 30,718 buyers during its four-day run. This huge turnout was shared with China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components, co-located with the new event.

Branching out from the electronics Fair, the Security Products event is aimed at addressing the growing demand for safety tools and gadgets, as well as other industry-related products from Greater China and Asia. President of Global Sources Exhibitions Tommy Wong said the new show, featuring hundreds of innovative products, was "packed with happy buyers and exhibitors." "Buyers and exhibitors are pleased with our arrangement and very enthusiastic about new business opportunities," he said. Buyers also met manufacturers from South Korea and other growing Asian markets.

South African ICT company Afrisat attended the new Fair to source security products from China. Afrisat CEO Ataico Diallo spoke well of Global Sources' exceptional services. "We found a lot of suppliers here. What impressed us here was the service. We arrived and got free tickets, they helped us to book a hotel. The service was very good. The organization is very good here," he stressed.

He added that more buyers in South Africa could benefit from the China Sourcing Fair. "It will be great to expand this show to South Africa. Not everyone is able to come to Hong Kong or Dubai. The visa problem is a big issue. If you organize a Fair in South Africa, other buyers from countries such as Botswana, Namibia and others can easily come and visit the Fair. It is a good idea," he said.

Joining China Sourcing Fairs' growing list of professional buyers and dependable manufacturers, more buyers and suppliers secured profitable business links in this new trading platform. Global Sources Executive Director Sarah Benecke stressed that choosing potential business partners is an important element in managing one's business. "In today's market, suppliers need to find volume buyers who can provide repeat, volume orders. Buyers need to find suppliers who continue to focus on quality at a reasonable price," she said.
Top buyers at the Security Products event included Best Buy, EPSON, Kodak, LG Sourcing, Li & Fung, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia, Philips, Samsung, Tesco and Toshiba. The latest addition to the series of China Fairs is also expected to continue attracting key industry players in the coming years.
